Prologue

A monument — not a plea
WhatRemains
for her
Some stories deserve to be remembered before they are gently laid to rest.
scroll to remember
The war is over. There is no anger left in me — only silence, and light.
Chapter I
Pain,withouthatred.
It hurt. I will not pretend it didn't. But not once did it turn to blame. I never wished you anything but well.
Chapter II
WhatIcarried.
Through every long road I kept one thing — not to hold you, but to honour you. You were the reason I stayed gentle.
Love, without possession. Acceptance, without expectation.
Chapter III
Thebattleisover.
No revenge. No last plea. No war to win. The king lays down his sword in the field and lets the sun do the rest. I accept it. All of it.
Before the light — the deepest dark
How can I admire myself in the mirror, when every reflection still becomes you?
Were my eyes created only to keep searching for what they can never forget?
My voice falters — every time someone speaks your name.
Push me away. Like those who never wanted me. Throw me into the sea.
There is no shore left within me. No water. Only the quiet ruin of everything I once was.
Chapter IV
Peaceafterthewar.
I laid the sword down beneath the oldest tree I know and let the light find me. Nothing left to win. Nothing left to carry — only the leaves, letting go.
Three books
What I never finished writing.
these three are hers — type her name to open
that isn't it
I
her
the first thing I noticed was that she was beautiful.
I couldn’t move my eyes.
that was four years ago.
I still can’t.
I didn’t tell her for a long time.
I just let her exist and thought that was enough.
her name means diamond.
I found that out later.
it fit.
I never even had a call with her.
not one.
and I still got attached.
that’s the part nobody understands.
I can’t explain what she was.
she was just the person.
the one my whole day was built around.
sealed
no.
I loved her.
not in a poem way.
in a boring, everyday, “did you eat, are you okay” kind of way.
I really loved her.
II
us
we talked every day.
it wasn’t dramatic. it was just normal, and it was good.
I told her things I never told anyone.
she never made me feel stupid for it.
I gave her a ring.
it wasn’t expensive. I saved for it.
she said she’d keep it.
I used to plan things in my head.
years ahead.
like it was already decided.
she was the reason I stayed soft.
I never wanted to be the kind of person who would hurt her.
then someone said something.
and I didn’t get to speak.
sealed
no.
if there are other universes,
I hope in one of them nobody said anything.
and we’re fine.
I love her in every one.
III
why
three people told her I was with someone else.
I was with my sister.
I said it.
I said it again.
I said it until there was nothing left to say.
she believed them.
that’s the part I still don’t understand.
not that they lied — that she didn’t ask me first.
“don’t ever talk to me again.”
then she blocked me.
that was 35 weeks ago.
I counted.
I still see her when I’m asleep.
that’s the only place left where she doesn’t walk away.
I’m not angry.
some days I want to be.
but I only ever wanted her to be okay.
that never changed.
sealed
no.
I hope she’s happy.
I hope nobody lies to her ever again.
and I hope she never finds out how long I waited.

A
Thank you.
For the light you gave without ever meaning to. I am not saying goodbye because I stopped caring — I am saying it because I finally learned how to let something beautiful rest.
